Holiday on the Horizon

Soon, three weeks from today, I will be in the Sonoran desert. With the speed of air travel, and the fact we are traveling east, we will be landing in Tucson, Arizona, not very long after we leave Sydney.

How much am I looking forward to North American summer? A great deal. It’s been like pushing a big rock up a hill at times getting out into the unheated yoga shed in the early morning to do my practice. Don’t get me wrong, I love the luxury of stepping out the back door and walking a few steps into a dedicated yoga space. But its been one cold winter so far, and when it hasn’t been raining, we’ve had high winds.

I’ll take my red yoga bag and mat along on my travels, and end up doing the kind of abbreviated yoga that’s done in hotel rooms and in airports when flights are delayed. I expect my body will respond to the warm temperatures like buds opening up to spring sunshine.

It’s all a positive fantasy at the moment with many more days of sluggish starts before I get to temperate climes. The thing is, you end up appreciating the spring so much more when you’ve struggled through the damp and cold. Any small amount of warm sun, any brave blossoms breaking through make you feel brighter and hopeful.
