Steering by Starlight

The idea of creating our Mitchells Island community of three couples, living in a beautiful home of our design, was hatched about 7-1/2 yrs. ago. The six of us were fairly accomplished at creating a vision and then fulfilling it. I think our project was successful, in some measure, because we harnessed the powerful synergistic energy of the group.

I taught vision-making as part of The Professional Yoga Teacher course at Nature Care College for 10 years. I still hear from trainees who created their 5 year plan and then manifested it. They were able to do this even when they thought they would never be able to have what they wanted.

Before writing their 5 year plans, the trainees grappled with creating a mission statement relating to yoga and teaching. Every time I taught the course, to demonstrate walking the talk, I would write one too. I just came across my mission statement from 2007, and I was surprised how well it has held up.

Eve’s Mission Statement

My aim in life is unity with myself and with every other Being.

Each day I create a world in which healing occurs.

I listen well, observe, create, inspire, encourage, persevere, and am patient, accepting and grateful.

I help bring together communities of people who live with planetary awareness, aligned with global spirit.

One of my vehicles doing for this is yoga. Yoga connects me to my inner riches and lets me manifest my vision in the world.

I am passionate about the holistic practice of all levels of yoga: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. As a teacher, I introduce people to the splendour of yoga and help them deepen this relationship over time.

I teach to remind myself and others who we really are: love, joy, happiness and equanimity.

Stephen Covey, the motivational speaker, writer, and business guru is pretty sure of the importance of visioning and planning. He says: “If the ladder is not leaning against the right wall, every step we take just gets us to the wrong place faster.”
