Up Your Sleeve

Two yoga practices that are very popular among yoga teachers are the sequence for “boosting the immune system” and the one for “fighting colds”. Too often, instead of taking time off to recover from an acute illness, teachers try to push through, even though they know better, and even though they tell their students to rest and recover. Thank goodness these sequences do help.

Since I’m nursing a mild cold at the moment, I pulled out my Special Needs file and proceeded to practice the following program:

Uttanasana, 2 min.

Prasarita Padottanasana, 2 min.

Adho Mukha Svanasana x 2, 2 min.

Sirsasana, 3-5 min.

Viparita Dandasana, 3 min.

Supta Baddha Konasana, 5 min.

Setu Bandhasana Sarvangasana (bolster), 5 min.

Halasana, 5 min.

Sarvangasana, 5 min.
